nIn
packaging there is something
to see from start to
finish. Continuous
cardboard cylinders spinning
from package-making
machines, are cut into long
cylinders. These long
cylinders are then cut into
the size of a standard 26
ounce round can.
The
round cans flow down long
conveyors to the packaging
room below and hustle into
line meeting the bottoms
rushing from the stamping
and forming machines.
Bottoms are glued on by
another machine and the
round cans crowd into
automatic filling machines
where each is filled with 26
ounces of salt. Other
machines busily make tops
complete with their aluminum
spouts and send the tops on
to another machine to glue
the tops on to the
cylinders. Spout seals are
then glued on at yet another
machine.The cans roll
through labeling machines
and come out with their
bright new dresses - at a
rate of several hundred per
minute.
Upright again, like
straight-backed soldiers,
they march on long belts
past inspectors to automatic
case packers.The
cases are then stocked on
pallets ready for shipment
to the customer. Our round
can production is the
quickest and most efficient
in the industry, producing
60,000,000 cans per year.
